Week Day Encaustic Open Studio: April, May, June

Tuesday – Friday 10am-4pm. Age 18+.

Come work in a professional art studio with emphasis on encaustic, and intaglio printmaking.

Email a week in advance to RSVP your working time and space requirements.

Rates: $12/hr with independent use of studio equipment; $15/hr with use of studio equipment and assistance. Sign up for blocks of time, 3hr or more for $10/hr.

Bring your own supplies and personal tools. Limit 4-8 depending on working space required.

April: Encaustic Basics

All materials included. Saturday, 10am-1pm. One (1) day class for 3 hours. Age 18+. Email a week in advance, sisleyblinn@gmail.com to RSVP your working time and space requirements.

April 2, or 16: Encaustic Basics I

$65. No previous experience required. Limit 8.

This class provides Beginner Level Experience for related encaustic classes. Students will learn:

  • history of this beautiful, luminescent medium
  • studio set-up and safety
  • fusing with a heat gun
  • transparent and opaque painting techniques
  • creating smooth surfaces, adding painted textures
  • layering collage materials

April 9, or 23: Encaustic Basics II

$65. Beginner experience required. Limit 8. Students will learn to create:

  • hard and soft edges
  • laser printed toner image transfers
  • low relief areas with stencils and masks
  • dry-point, scraffido lines and textures
  • shellac burn surfaces with a hand held torch

*Note: Take both an Encaustic Basics I and II class for $100. Or, sign up for Encaustic Open Studio time.

May: Encaustic Basics
